Her Story:
It was 3 years ago when I took my first yoga class. My impression? I was not very into the class, the pace was slow... and boring, the instructor did not pay much attention to us either.
Then during the summer of 2003, I had the chance to encounter Dickson Yoga. DY classes were very demanding and tiring. Every time after class I just can't help but go straight home and sleep. But I gradually fell in love with this special yoga, and started to change my view of yoga, because DY is not traditional yoga. It's fast-paced, exercises you to a full sweat and improves your flexibility.
Unfortunately, I needed to go back to Canada for school. In Vancouver, I participated in many yoga classes, but none of them satisfied my needs. So in the summer of 2004, I decided to quit school for one semester and took the HK Yoga Association Teacher Training Program taught by Dickson. I never thought of becoming a teacher, I joined the program just to have a more in depth understanding of yoga, so that I can practice it on my own. The 3 months program ended very quickly, I finally graduated. Not only did I learn all the key points and benefits of each pose, I also had the opportunity to participate in quite a few yoga performances under the arrangement of Dickson Yoga. It was a very rewarding summer indeed. Apart from the Teacher Program, I also joined DY classes. Dickson's unique way of yoga teaching got me totally addicted. After practicing for some time, I lost some weight and got slimmer. This is a bonus! But what surprised me the most was that when I returned to Vancouver, I was invited by the City of Burnaby School Board to teach yoga in their Chinese Community Centre. Oh my God!, I never thought the very first job in my life would be teaching yoga. My friends just envy me that I can earn extra dough with my interest. I really would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to Dickson and all the friends I met from Dickson Yoga Studio who taught me and shared the knowledge of yoga with me! You guys have made a difference in my life! |
